The German Institute of Human Nutrition (DIfE) Potsdam-Rehbruecke is a member of the Leibniz association and its mission is to conduct experimental and clinical research in the field of nutrition and health. 

The Department of Molecular Toxicology (MTOX) is inviting applications for

1 Doctoral Student (m/f/d)

The position is to be filled starting October 1st, 2024.

Your Mission: 

As part of the BLE-funded project "ProtinA", the successful candidate will work on the bioavailability of nutrients from insects (Acheta domesticus) as novel protein sources. The tasks include:

  • Analysis of amino acids, vitamins, micronutrients and clinically relevant markers in human blood samples
  • Independent development and establishment of new methods for biomarker analysis 
  • Planning and conducting a human study
  • Presentation of research results (seminars, scientific publications, colloquia, conference contributions) 

Skills and requirements:

  • Very good degree (Master) in nutritional science, food chemistry or comparable disciplines
  • Sound background in molecular biology or nutritional science
  • Practical experience in HPLC and Mass Spec analysis and in handling human sample material
  • Basic knowledge of data analysis (statistical programs) and their presentation (MS Office) are desirable
  • Very high motivation and willingness for interdisciplinary collaboration in a diverse international research environment

The advertised position is to be filled for a limited period of 3 years.
