IfADo explores the risks and potentials of modern work in interdisciplinary approaches. We combine the disciplines of Ergonomics, Immunology, Toxicology, Psychology and Neurosciences.

Biological/medical-technical assistant (m/f/d)

The position is available from 01.10.2024. This is a maternity leave replacement initially limited to 2 years.

Your tasks:

  • The successful candidate will work on various projects investigating liver disease such as fatty liver and also in the field of tumor biology and metabolism, including preclinical testing of small molecule inhibitors on tumor growth and metastasis in mouse models
  • We use a broad spectrum of methods from the fields of cell biology, tumor biology, toxicology, analytical chemistry and systems biology in collaboration with scientists at IfADo as well as nationally and internationally
  • We want to understand the role of different genes and metabolic pathways in liver diseases and carcinogenesis. Our institute is very well equipped with high-quality microscopes, small animal imagers, S1 and S2 cloning laboratories, cell culture laboratories, flow sorters and cytometers, mass spectrometers for proteomics and metabolomics, sequencers for RNAseq, Seahorse analyzers, and from 2020 onwards with an MRI and a microCT

Your main tasks:

  • Real Time PCR
  • Western blot analyses
  • Organ and blood collection from mice
  • Carrying out pharmacokinetic and xenograft studies
  • cell culture
  • Cloning
  • Histological working methods

Your profile:

  • Completed professional training as a BTA/MTA/biology laboratory technician
  • Basic knowledge of the following methods is required: cell culture, cloning, transfection, western blotting, quantitative PCR analysis, genotyping, immunohistology/immunocytochemistry
  • Experience in animal studies is required, in particular the ability to work with various mouse tumor models (subcutaneous and orthotopic xenografts) and/or experience in conducting pharmacokinetic studies
  • Ability to work creatively and independently
  • A high level of motivation and commitment
  • Ability to work in a team, resilience, flexibility and communication skills
  • Very good knowledge of English

  • Remuneration according to the collective agreement for the public service of the federal states (position value EG 9b TV-L. The classification depends on the collective agreement and personal requirements)
